Rachel

Violin | Happy Valley

Rachel started taking Suzuki violin classes at age six and began learning the Scottish fiddle soon after. She spent her childhood playing in school and youth orchestras, as well as attending music camps every summer. In her hometown of Santa Rosa, CA, Rachel played with the American Philharmonic of Sonoma County, as well as joining the pit orchestras of 6th Street Playhouse and Summer Repertory Theatre for musicals including The Last Five Years and The Producers. Since moving to Portland in 2008, Rachel has played with a number of local orchestras, chamber ensembles, and bands. Most recently, Rachel performed with folk band Kendalin, Celtic trio Dram & Go, and Tilikum Chamber Orchestra. As a teacher, Rachel enjoys guiding students as they develop a love for playing the violin.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
