Sarah is a professional singer and performer with a focus in classical voice and a background in musical theater, rock, and contemporary styles. Sarah graduated in 2024 from Portland State University earning a Bachelors of Music in classical Vocal Performance and was president of PSU’s highest auditioned vocal ensemble, Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Ethan Sperry. Her most recent notable performance was singing alongside China Forbes of Pink Martini with the Oregon Symphony in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall during China’s “Still 50” birthday concert. Sarah began her teaching of multiple genres to all ages in 2023. As a vocal teacher, Sarah supports her students’ goals by laying a foundation of healthy vocal techniques that can be applied to a variety of genres and increase vocal longevity. This includes assisting students in the exploration, and study of, classical, musical theater, rock and choral vocal techniques as well as vocal stylizations such as belt, whine, breathy tone and more. In addition to learning how to sing, Sarah provides an education in vocal health and self-advocacy as a performer through a recognition of self-worth, an understanding of the vocal mechanism, self-awareness, self-control, goal discernment, healthy practice session habits and how to communicate professionally. Sarah also teaches basic piano, covering skills such as elementary scales and chord progressions, sheet music literacy, and posture using beginning level piano music, ear training, ‘repeat after me’ methodology and interactive lectures. Whether playing piano or learning how to sing Sarah fosters self confidence in her students through a growth mindset with the hopes of instilling within them a love for music whether it holds a place in their life as a hobby or a career.
